On iPhones with Apple Intelligence the notes come from Apple's own models: Private Cloud Compute on iOS 27, which keeps nothing it is sent, and the on-device model before that. Other iPhones get simpler notes, written on the device.
Sign in with Apple, Google or email, and every tape is backed up and comes back on a new phone.
Add Cassette's widget to your Lock Screen or Home Screen and start a tape with one tap. While it records, the widget shows the counter.
Put it in Control Center, on the Lock Screen or on the Action button. One tap starts a tape without opening Cassette, a second tap stops it. iOS 18 or later.

Is Cassette free?
Yes, to download and to record, with no minute meter. Tapes under 3 minutes get their transcript and notes free, and longer ones get them free for 2 tapes a month. Cassette Premium writes up every tape and backs up your shelf, and the annual plan starts with a 7-day free trial.
Does my audio leave my phone?
Your tapes are stored on your phone, and there are a few ways they can leave it. On iPhone they are included in your iCloud and computer backups, if you use them. If you sign in with Premium, on iPhone or Android, they are backed up to your account, where only you can open them. On iPhone, transcripts come from Apple speech recognition, on the device wherever your iPhone supports your language; otherwise that recording may be sent to Apple to transcribe. The notes are written by Apple's models, never by an outside AI service: on iOS 27 the transcript goes to Apple's Private Cloud Compute, which does not keep it, and on earlier iPhones the notes are written on the device. Switch on On-device only in your profile and none of this happens on iPhone. On Android, the transcript and the notes are always written on the phone.
Does Cassette work offline?
Recording always works in airplane mode. Transcripts and notes do too once the language has downloaded, and on Android once the notes model has arrived over Wi-Fi after install. On Android everything is written on the phone. On iPhone, speech is recognised on the device for the languages your iPhone supports there, and when Apple's Private Cloud Compute can't be reached the notes are written on the iPhone instead. Switch on On-device only in your profile and your tapes never leave the iPhone.
Do I need an account?
No. Recording, transcripts and notes all work without one. Signing in keeps your purchase with you, and with Premium it backs up every tape so it comes back on a new phone.

How do I delete my recordings?
Open a tape and press Delete, or press and hold it on the shelf. Deleting your account removes every backed-up recording, transcript and note too.
